Just a few more days...

My roommate has some big news, but you can't know yet.

P.S. Nickie isn't wearing pants. That is unrelated though.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

This weekend has been a house sitting adventure. Alex and I got to my aunts house to be greeted by two ferocious looking barking dogs. Roo and Buddy wouldn't even let us in the doorway, but Alex saved the day. He quickly asked the dogs if they wanted to go outside, and sure enough they have loved on us ever since. The rest of our time here has just been chilling with the dogs and each other.

Alex and I chilling.

Buddy

Roo

Those dogs might not look terrifying now, but trust me they were when they were barking at us.

I need to get back to studying for finals, but I really have no desire to. Honestly finals being over means that I am moving back home, at least until I go to work, and that means no living with Chrissy. I am going to be so bored without someone to talk to every day. I mean I guess that was the point of this blog in the first place. Hopefully it will work out the way we want it to.

Easter Eggs and Separation Anxiety

When I was little, my Dad and I always made an Easter Egg tree, you know, the really tacky-looking ones with plastic Easter eggs tied to the shortest branches. This year, we've decided to do it again, for my little cousins that are all coming over to my house tomorrow. Somehow when I was younger, it was so much more fun to thread invisible string through tiny little holes than it is now. It's sad that I'm more excited about the few hours this afternoon in which I'll be sitting on a hot, uncomfortably hard tennis court, than I am about decorating for Easter. The food will make it all worthwhile!!!

You're probably all wondering why I'm rambling about my daily life on a roommate page...obviously, Ash is not with me this weekend. The main purpose for this blog was so that we could keep each other up to date with our lives while we're apart this summer. We've decided that now, a week before we part, is a great time to practice. While we're on the topic of Ashley...We have been told recently that we have separation anxiety.
Symptoms of separation anxiety in adults include an avoidance of being alone and a fear that harm will befall those that they love. (http://anxietypanichealth.com/reference/separation-anxiety-disorder-adult/) We don't seriously think that we have separation anxiety, but sometimes it just makes sense. We hate to be apart, and often we do worry about each other. Ash said in our "about us" page that we have a unique friendship, and she wasn't kidding. It's stronger than a typical best friend friendship. We're sorority sisters, but sometimes it's like we were separated at birth. :)

Just Not True

Chrissy says I am cheating, but there is just no way that can be true.

Did I peek over at her computer... Sure.

Is that cheating though... Debatable.

No Thanks to You!

It has been determined that this blog is going to be updated often. I'd like to take a moment to scowl across the room at my so-called best friend Ashley, for getting me addicted to blogging.
Second, I'd like to point out to the world of internets, that she is being a major creeper tonight! If I don't show up for my placement in the morning, come look for her. It will be her fault. Typically, she is a very friendly person, but tonight, I feel like she's making fun of the monster that she created.  So, good night to you, my seriously creepy roommate, I hope you have the worst dreams EVER!

(And might I add, epic win on the tongue stickage. And you thought I couldn't do it. Haha Ashley...ha. ha.)

Tie Dye!

So Chrissy being the RA that she is, plus having a RA boyfriend, and having me as a roommate it only seemed natural that there was a tie dye social at some point. Yesterday was that day! Dye and shirts were bought, trash bags were put down, and residents actually showed up. At the end of it I think there was more dye on my hands than I ever actually put on a shirt, but all in all it was a successful night.

We have some pretty ballin' shirts to show for it too.

Chrissy's shirt

Andy made this one for Chrissy

This is my "let's get rid of the brown so we can mix a prettier color" shirt

Andy made this one for his professor

This is the shirt we used as a rag to clean up spills, but then tried to make pretty by adding a peace sign. That failed miserably. We are giving it to Andy's dad.

This shirt is for the Dean.

Andy made this one for himself.

Of course we wore our shirts as soon as we washed them. Would you expect anything less?

Andy wasn't even given a choice, Chrissy made him put it on.

Chrissy wanted me to post directions as to how to tie dye, so here is a brief overview.

Do:

  • Soak shirts before dying them.
  • Put colors from the same family next to each other.
  • Use colors in rainbow order.
  • Put something underneath the shirt to catch the extra dye.
  • Use rubber bands to make designs on the shirt.
Don't:
  • Put Yellow and Purple next to each other.
  • Put Orange and Blue next to each other.
  • Put Red and Green next to each other.
  • Get dye on the clothing (or shoes) you are wearing.
  • Stress. (It will all be ok)
After Dying:
  • Put the shirt into a gallon sized Ziploc bag.
  • Leave it there for at least 24 hours.
  • Rinse the shirt in the sink or bathtub until the water runs mostly clear.
  • Put the shirt through a rinse cycle. (You can do this with other recently dyed shirts, but nothing else)
  • Dry it.
  • Wash it again with detergent with other tie dye.
  • WEAR IT!
  • Wash it two or 3 more times by itself then it is fine to wash with a normal color load.
Hi! We're roommates, but we're also best friends. After three years of living in the small, cramped space of a dorm room, that tends to happen; if you don't hate each other first. We basically do everything together, but we are the perfect example of opposites attracting.

Ashley is going to kill me for doing this, but...
This beautiful lady is Ashley! She is very brave...brave enough to let me experiment with her hair and make-up. She is also one of the most sensible and caring people that I know. She will do anything for her friends, and loves to go camping! Well ok, she likes to work at camp; Girl Scout Camp! She also very much enjoys tye-dye. :) Ashley is also a junior in college, is a former biology, recently turned english major, and is an excellent RAR (Resident Assistant Roommate). She'll never admit it, but her life long dream is to be Katy Perry.

Since I put up an embarrassing picture of Ash, I figured I should probably put up an equally embarrassing picture of myself too. I'm not quite as brave as Ashley, but I don't care what other people think of me...and I have a problem with not saying things that I shouldn't. I'm very honest. Sometimes it gets me in trouble, but Ashley has gotten pretty good at controlling my mouth. Sometimes I think she can read my mind! Anyway, I'm a junior, early childhood/special education major, and I love every minute of it! I am also a resident assistant, and a lot of our blogs will probably include tales of the girls from my hall. I'd just like to point out now that I love each and every one of them! When I grow up, I want to be Ke$ha...don't judge my life.

Ashley says I have to end this post with an explanation of our blog title. I don't think that it needs much of a description...I'll just say that we LOVE these videos and that you should watch them!!!
