A Little Late

I meant to post this a while ago... like Christmas Eve, but I didn't have time.

Bring on 2012

There are so many things that I could say about 2011 and most of them I have never said out loud before. To be completely honest, this year was hard for me, really unbelievably hard. Some things from this year I ignored, and hoped they would go away. That's not reality though. This is life... time to start living.

2012 will be different though. I will make it different. I've made a list of New Years Resolutions and here they are:

  • Blog more frequently
  • Try to do well in my classes
  • Get a job
  • Change my diet (baby steps... maybe in 2013 I will try to go to the gym)
  • Be honest with my friends
  • Don't let Chrissy drift away again
  • Be a good maid of honor
That's the list as of now... there is still time to add to it before the 1st though.

Back to School

On the up side, going back to school means getting to live with Chrissy again! Although it's not quite the same this year. Having other roommates sometimes messes with our original groove. I wouldn't ever go back to living in a dorm ever again though, I love having my own personal space. It's different, but in a good way.

This is definitely a year of change though. I feel like I am finally growing up and I don't know what to think of that. I mean on so many levels I love it, at the same time though there are a few things that make me nervous. One thing that super freaks me out is where I am going to live next year... Oh well, it will all work out. I hope.

The Ginger Song

Ginger, Ginger
Your hair's so red
It shines so bright upon your head

It's curly, thick, and fluffy too
Ginger, Ginger
I love you

Yeah, what she said!

Ashley,
Of course I am more excited than you to be back at school...isn't this the way it always goes? You will be successful in your decorating venture if I have anything to say about it. And I live right next door, so all you have to do is knock! Or yell or whatever. Miss you!!!!!

The End.

I Guess I Should Do This For Real

I feel that my one sentence posts aren't cutting it anymore.

This summer has gone by crazy fast. Camp was very different this summer and I am still up in the air about how I feel. Some things were a blast like late night Sonic runs and table time. The rest of the time was only so so. It's over now though and I have a while to decide if I want to go back.

I am excited to move back into school. Chrissy seems more excited than I am though.

This year I want to actually decorate my room... Hopefully I will be successful in this venture. If I am then there will be pictures to come.

All of next week will be spent packing and I'm not looking forward to it.

Things That Are New

My long and lonely summer is seeming very short now that it's coming to a close. I haven't seen my roomie in weeks. On the other hand, I'm excited for school to start, so that it will be over and I can graduate.
I've moved in to my apartment, and started work in the office. The apartment is awesome! But it's awfully empty without Ashley, Whitney, and Megan (my new roommates). I'm mad at Andy right now....and he knows it. I'll have to explain it to you, Ashley, when I see you again. AND I take the GACE on the 20th...studying for that is a full-time job...or, it would be, if I weren't so good a procrastinating. On a happier note, I found out that my mentee for the School of Education is actually a girl that I worked with on Res-Life Staff last year!!! Yay!
Ok, this has been really random and now I'm out of things to say.

The End.

p.s. I forgot to mention that the buttons on the elevator in this building drive me crazy. There are five floors. So, why are the buttons labeled: T, 1,2,3,4?????

New Phone

I can post from my phone!

Too Long

Its been far too long since I have posted on here... Oh well.

I spent a good section of the morning stuck in the middle of the lake. Enough said.

I have to make a memory page, and then I am almost done with the summer.

Thursday, May 26, 2011

I am officially bored with summer. It's a good thing my classes start next week, or I might go crazy. I'm actually pretty excited about summer school. I think it'll be a good balance between home and work. I'm still disappointed that I didn't earn my 4.0 last semester (which was my ultimate goal), but I guess a 3.66 isn't so bad. I made the Dean's List again!

Wedding planning has slowed without my maid-of-honor, but that's okay. I wish you could see my dress, I am in LOVE with it.

Andy signed me up to play ALTA, and I missed the first practice. Thank you stomach bug.

Hmmm....what else is new? I woke up this morning and caught myself planning a lesson on how to teach kids to tell time...and wishing that I could put it in LiveText. You know you're a teacher when....

I miss you Roomie!!! I hope you're having fun at camp, enjoying your new job, and that your ropes course went well!

Right Here!

Here I am! Sorry Roomie, I haven't been online more than three or four times since I got home from school. There are so many things to do at home that are better than Facebook. For example, I've read all seven books in the House of Night series, and I'm on the third book in the Twilight series. Ash, stop laughing. They're good. (I've read them probably more than ten times.)
Hmmm...what have I been up to lately? Well, I'm still jobless, so I've been working with my Dad. I've seen a couple of friends from high school, spent a slim amount of time with Andy, and I bought my wedding dress!
You're turn Ashley! <3

Where?

Is my roommate? She hasn't blogged recently.

So...pickles?

Over the past week, I've been released from school (which was my entire life) and from my job (note that I was not fired, my contract ran out-I was a resident assistant). Also over the past week, I have discovered that boredom does not suit me. I have been irritable and miserable beyond belief. I have GOT to find a job. Soon. So, if anyone knows of any openings in or around the Alpharetta area....

On a happier (?) note, or maybe just slightly less depressing, I miss my roommate very much. I didn't realize how little wedding planning I would get done without her. I'm going to look at dresses on Saturday with one of my bridesmaids (and best friends from high school), but it won't be the same without Ash!

As for the title of this post, while moving out I discovered that I had two refrigerated jars of pickles in my fridge, and three large,  unopened jars of pickles on my floor. On top of this, we had two jars at home. Ashley, I'll never eat all of these, so plan on pickle-ing out when you come over!

New Found Freedom

So it has been an eventful week to say the least. I got my driver's license this week, finally. My goal was to get it before I turned 21 and I managed to do that, but just barely. I now understand what everyone says about driving being so freeing, now I don't have to try to find a ride to go anywhere.

Zeke came home for good. It is still pretty surreal though. I have only seen him once, but I don't think it has quite set in to me yet that I can see him whenever I want to now.

Other than that I haven't really been up to much... Life will get more exciting once I start working again.

On another note though, there has been something in my life that has quite made any sense recently... Tonight, with the help of Alex, I finally pieced it all together! Sorry that is really cryptic, but I can't say anything more about it.

BIG NEWS

Okay...so it's been a week or two since I've been allowed to share my  big news, but better late than never.

I'M ENGAGED!!!!!

My boyfriend, Andy, and I were hanging out at his house on April 23rd, after spending the day with our families. We had been watching Harry Potter 7 on the couch and talking, when he pulled me up, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. We weren't allowed to tell anyone until I had a candle lighting with my sorority, which was WAY harder than I thought it would be. We told our parents of course, and I can't keep anything from Ash.
We've decided on a place for the ceremony, our minister, the wedding party, and a date. But our guest list and details are still in the works obviously. I don't know what I would do without my maid of honor...she is going to hate me by the end of this. Hopefully, it won't make her decide not to live in adjoining houses. :)
Are you happy now Ashley? I BLOGGED. Your turn.
LIS!!! <3

Just a few more days...

My roommate has some big news, but you can't know yet.

P.S. Nickie isn't wearing pants. That is unrelated though.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

This weekend has been a house sitting adventure. Alex and I got to my aunts house to be greeted by two ferocious looking barking dogs. Roo and Buddy wouldn't even let us in the doorway, but Alex saved the day. He quickly asked the dogs if they wanted to go outside, and sure enough they have loved on us ever since. The rest of our time here has just been chilling with the dogs and each other.

Alex and I chilling.

Buddy

Roo

Those dogs might not look terrifying now, but trust me they were when they were barking at us.

I need to get back to studying for finals, but I really have no desire to. Honestly finals being over means that I am moving back home, at least until I go to work, and that means no living with Chrissy. I am going to be so bored without someone to talk to every day. I mean I guess that was the point of this blog in the first place. Hopefully it will work out the way we want it to.

Easter Eggs and Separation Anxiety

When I was little, my Dad and I always made an Easter Egg tree, you know, the really tacky-looking ones with plastic Easter eggs tied to the shortest branches. This year, we've decided to do it again, for my little cousins that are all coming over to my house tomorrow. Somehow when I was younger, it was so much more fun to thread invisible string through tiny little holes than it is now. It's sad that I'm more excited about the few hours this afternoon in which I'll be sitting on a hot, uncomfortably hard tennis court, than I am about decorating for Easter. The food will make it all worthwhile!!!

You're probably all wondering why I'm rambling about my daily life on a roommate page...obviously, Ash is not with me this weekend. The main purpose for this blog was so that we could keep each other up to date with our lives while we're apart this summer. We've decided that now, a week before we part, is a great time to practice. While we're on the topic of Ashley...We have been told recently that we have separation anxiety.
Symptoms of separation anxiety in adults include an avoidance of being alone and a fear that harm will befall those that they love. (http://anxietypanichealth.com/reference/separation-anxiety-disorder-adult/) We don't seriously think that we have separation anxiety, but sometimes it just makes sense. We hate to be apart, and often we do worry about each other. Ash said in our "about us" page that we have a unique friendship, and she wasn't kidding. It's stronger than a typical best friend friendship. We're sorority sisters, but sometimes it's like we were separated at birth. :)

Just Not True

Chrissy says I am cheating, but there is just no way that can be true.

Did I peek over at her computer... Sure.

Is that cheating though... Debatable.

No Thanks to You!

It has been determined that this blog is going to be updated often. I'd like to take a moment to scowl across the room at my so-called best friend Ashley, for getting me addicted to blogging.
Second, I'd like to point out to the world of internets, that she is being a major creeper tonight! If I don't show up for my placement in the morning, come look for her. It will be her fault. Typically, she is a very friendly person, but tonight, I feel like she's making fun of the monster that she created.  So, good night to you, my seriously creepy roommate, I hope you have the worst dreams EVER!

(And might I add, epic win on the tongue stickage. And you thought I couldn't do it. Haha Ashley...ha. ha.)

Tie Dye!

So Chrissy being the RA that she is, plus having a RA boyfriend, and having me as a roommate it only seemed natural that there was a tie dye social at some point. Yesterday was that day! Dye and shirts were bought, trash bags were put down, and residents actually showed up. At the end of it I think there was more dye on my hands than I ever actually put on a shirt, but all in all it was a successful night.

We have some pretty ballin' shirts to show for it too.

Chrissy's shirt

Andy made this one for Chrissy

This is my "let's get rid of the brown so we can mix a prettier color" shirt

Andy made this one for his professor

This is the shirt we used as a rag to clean up spills, but then tried to make pretty by adding a peace sign. That failed miserably. We are giving it to Andy's dad.

This shirt is for the Dean.

Andy made this one for himself.

Of course we wore our shirts as soon as we washed them. Would you expect anything less?

Andy wasn't even given a choice, Chrissy made him put it on.

Chrissy wanted me to post directions as to how to tie dye, so here is a brief overview.

Do:

  • Soak shirts before dying them.
  • Put colors from the same family next to each other.
  • Use colors in rainbow order.
  • Put something underneath the shirt to catch the extra dye.
  • Use rubber bands to make designs on the shirt.
Don't:
  • Put Yellow and Purple next to each other.
  • Put Orange and Blue next to each other.
  • Put Red and Green next to each other.
  • Get dye on the clothing (or shoes) you are wearing.
  • Stress. (It will all be ok)
After Dying:
  • Put the shirt into a gallon sized Ziploc bag.
  • Leave it there for at least 24 hours.
  • Rinse the shirt in the sink or bathtub until the water runs mostly clear.
  • Put the shirt through a rinse cycle. (You can do this with other recently dyed shirts, but nothing else)
  • Dry it.
  • Wash it again with detergent with other tie dye.
  • WEAR IT!
  • Wash it two or 3 more times by itself then it is fine to wash with a normal color load.
Hi! We're roommates, but we're also best friends. After three years of living in the small, cramped space of a dorm room, that tends to happen; if you don't hate each other first. We basically do everything together, but we are the perfect example of opposites attracting.

Ashley is going to kill me for doing this, but...
This beautiful lady is Ashley! She is very brave...brave enough to let me experiment with her hair and make-up. She is also one of the most sensible and caring people that I know. She will do anything for her friends, and loves to go camping! Well ok, she likes to work at camp; Girl Scout Camp! She also very much enjoys tye-dye. :) Ashley is also a junior in college, is a former biology, recently turned english major, and is an excellent RAR (Resident Assistant Roommate). She'll never admit it, but her life long dream is to be Katy Perry.

Since I put up an embarrassing picture of Ash, I figured I should probably put up an equally embarrassing picture of myself too. I'm not quite as brave as Ashley, but I don't care what other people think of me...and I have a problem with not saying things that I shouldn't. I'm very honest. Sometimes it gets me in trouble, but Ashley has gotten pretty good at controlling my mouth. Sometimes I think she can read my mind! Anyway, I'm a junior, early childhood/special education major, and I love every minute of it! I am also a resident assistant, and a lot of our blogs will probably include tales of the girls from my hall. I'd just like to point out now that I love each and every one of them! When I grow up, I want to be Ke$ha...don't judge my life.

Ashley says I have to end this post with an explanation of our blog title. I don't think that it needs much of a description...I'll just say that we LOVE these videos and that you should watch them!!!
